Castor oil, also known as Palma Christi oil or resin oil, comes from the pressing of the fruits of the castor plant – Ricinus communis. Rich in fatty acids, it is a soothing, lubricating oil that is easily absorbed by the skin. Moisturizes and at the same time locks moisture in the skin. Castor oil is valuable for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. The high concentration of fatty acids moisturizes the skin and actively helps to remove dry “patches” and encourages the regeneration of new skin cells.
Castor oil adds softness and richness to the soap and provides a rich, emollient lather.
In hair care, castor oil is commonly used as a conditioner and in hot oil treatments for brittle, damaged hair or against hair loss. Castor oil smoothes the hair, seals in moisture and leaves hair soft and silky.
