Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla ) is a well-known herb among herbalists with a variety of medicinal uses. The rheological approach of the word “chamomile” confirms its value, it is a compound word consisting of two synthetic parts, the words “chamomile” and “apple”, because of the smell of its flowers, which remind us of an apple. As is well known, chamomile is used – drunk as a decoction, less known but equally effective is its external use.
Properties
Effective as a relaxant, for the treatment of insomnia, nervous tension, irritability and digestive disorders. It shows rich anti-inflammatory action, either as a decoction or for external use – spreading. Indicatively mentioned some more actions, as an anti-inflammatory in cases of gastrointestinal infections, inflammation of the eyes, skin, intestines, ulcers in the mouth, gingivitis, etc., as an antispasmodic, also reduces blood sugar levels, increases appetite and improves dark circles and puffiness in the eyes.
