Thyme

Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) is an excellent herb of the Greek countryside.
Thyme is known to be used as a spice in cooking, adding flavour and aroma to salads and food, while its use as a decoction is less well known but equally effective and tasty.

Properties

Thyme is rich in thymol, nature’s most effective antifungal substance. Its antifungal and tonic action was known to the ancient Greeks and they used the plant in herbal medicine of the time.
Recent studies attribute to thyme a remarkable antioxidant and tonic effect, enhancing the normal functioning of the human body and combating the effects of aging. Its proven contribution to a variety of diseases is important. Indicatively mentioned are the antiseptic, tonic, expectorant action, as well as the relief from muscle spasms, the treatment of dermatological diseases, the maintenance of oral hygiene.
