Nettle

Nettle (Urtica dioica) is one of the most valuable herbs that contribute positively to the defence of human health.
It is a highly misunderstood plant because of the itching and irritation sensation when contacting it in the open air.
Its medicinal properties were known since antiquity and ancient physicians and pharmacologists referred to its beneficial properties in their texts.
In later years of history, specifically during the German occupation, the plant was consumed to avoid starvation.
It is consumed – drunk as a decoction and because of the abundance of substances it contains, it was traditionally used as a panacea.

Properties

Nettle has strong anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antioxidant and antimicrobial action.
Indicatively, some of its actions are mentioned, such as the treatment of allergic symptoms, e.g. seasonal allergies, the recovery of iron levels (anemia), the significant reduction of blood sugar levels, the reduction of cholesterol, gout and joint pain, etc.
